Weird Shoe Wednesdays: More Horse Hoof Heels

You might remember when we featured the taxidermist-inspired work of German designer Iris Schieferstein months ago. Well, it looks like someone at the Cheltenham race track had the same idea. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Cheltenham Festival, one of the most prestigious events in horse racing, an online betting exchange named Betfair commissioned designers to create these hooves. The hooves are made from carbon fiber and up to 5000 real horse hairs. And they bear an uncanny resemblance to Schieferstein’s work.

Weird Shoe Wednesdays: Horse Hoof Heels

German designer, Iris Schieferstein, seems to have a weird fetish for using dead animals’ body parts to create her shoes. Of course, many shoes are already made of dead animal skin–leather. But Schieferstein’s seems more the work of a taxidermist than a cobbler. Check out her infamous Hoof Heels below.

As if that weren’t enough, she added guns as stiletto heels to the equestrian monstrosity, as if taking a cue from the previously mentioned Chanel Gun Heels.

And if you thought that horses were the only animals harmed in Schieferstein’s world of design, here are her latest ‘Temptation’ heels. They bring new meaning to the term ‘pigeon-toed.’
