Weird Shoe Wednesdays: 8-Bit Pixel Heels

Hey everyone! Sorry I’ve been gone for so long. Once again, very exciting things are going on at Shoe Metro and some even more exciting things are just on the horizon as well. If only I could divulge more ……

But we’re back with Weird Shoe Wednesdays. And this week, we have some delightfully retro, 8-bit Nintendo-inspired pumps. Designer Kunihiko Morinaga created the entire Fall 2011 clothing collection for Anrealage. Morinaga takes inspiration from the digital pixel. The heels came out just stunningly beautiful.

Weird Shoe Wednesdays: Brass Knuckle Heels

Wow. There are a lot of brass knuckle heels. I mean if you really want to wear brass knuckles on your footwear, there are no shortage of options available to you. It kinda boggles my mind how many different shapes that brass knuckle pumps come in. I’ve already seen a pair of brass knuckles booties in the past. Little did I know there were brass knuckle mary jane pumps, brass knuckle platform sandals, brass knuckle high-heel slides, and more. Oh heavens …

Weird Shoe Wednesdays: LEG-GO Stilettos

Like the perfect marriage of boys being boys and girls wanting to be women, artist/sculptor Finn Stone has created these LEG-GO Stiletto heels for the Spring 2011 season. As you can see, the upper is made of Lego blocks but thankfully the insole and outsole are not (just imagine the ouchies if they were). Stone plans to make only a dozen pairs of these. You can snag one for yourself (or one of your children, hah) by contacting Stone directly from his website.

Weird Shoe Wednesdays: Fruity Pumps and Fruity Flats

In case you’ve been skimping on your daily fix of fruits and vegetables, these pumps and flats just might have you covered in that department. These pumps and flats come from Charlotte Olympia with leather and suede uppers in a delectable mix of bananas, strawberries, watermelon, and pineapple. Though maybe it’d be easier on your purse just have a V8 instead: the Charlotte Olympia pumps go for a shade under $1,700; the flats for $945. Whew!

Happy Shoe Metro Customers on Youtube

Check out two vloggers on Youtube who came away with big shoe hauls and big savings, courtesy of Shoe Metro. The first vlogger is Eclecticldy, who came away with four pairs of shoes for just about $110 total (including shipping).

If you’re interested, we actually still have two of the shoes that she purchased in-stock: the Marc Fisher Vendra heels and the International Concepts Relle heels.

Don’t forget to also check out freegurl76′s Shoemetro HAUL video. She was able to snag SIX pairs of shoes for $255. She was just ecstatic.

If you want to brag about your collection from Shoe Metro, we’d love to hear about it. You can post a video like these beautiful ladies or you can post a picture at our Shoe Metro Facebook page.

Weird Shoe Wednesday: Shoe Hats

This Friday is Hat Day at Shoe Metro. In preparation and inspiration for that fateful day, I present to you …… Shoe Hats! An assortment of hats fashioned after or actually made from shoes. Because shoes, especially high heels, are too beautiful to be all the way down at your feet. You have to raise them up high in the sky!

And who says that men can’t wear shoes are their heads too?

Weird Shoe Wednesdays: Shoes from Household Appliances

A popular London department store, Selfridges, commissioned Dutch design duo Lernert & Sander to create a series of window displays to promote their new shoe galleries. The designers came up with these amazing displays, turning a number of household appliances such as washers and irons into high heel shoes. The designers say it is “a humorous take on fashion as an ideal escape from the daily grind.” Check them out.

Manolo Blahnik x Timberland Boots at New York Fashion Week

More news on odd collaborations. Yesterday, we saw Hello Kitty Dr. Marten’s boots and shoes. Today, I’ve spotted these high-heeled Timberland boots, a collaboration between Manolo Blahnik and Timberland. It seems that rugged-chic will be a huge trend in the Fall season.

These Manolo Blahnik Timberland boots are extremely limited. They’re available only at the Manolo Blahnik store in New York and only during New York Fashion Week (or until they’re all gone). And they are going for a whopping $1,050.

If you had $1,050 lying around and you lived in New York, would you sport these?

Weird Shoe Wednesdays: Shoe Flower Pots

I have absolutely no information on these shoes besides what you can observe with your very eyes. These are flower pots shaped like high-heel stiletto platforms. As you can see they do hold all sorts of plants. The large platform midsole holds the soil and the roots and the plant, of course, grows from there. If your garden needs a little jolt of style, you can add one of these flower pots to spice things up.
