Fall In Love | Pantone Fashion Color Report Fall 2012

Don’t hold back – fall in love this Fall! I know you’ll probably still be hung up on Spring and Summer, but I’ll keep you one step ahead of the trends so you can start fresh with Fall long before it’s here. Spring and Summer might be a little jealous, but it’ll totally be worth it.

Rachel Roy, a Pantone designer, says this Fall’s color palette is inspired by Nature’s landscape. “The color palette contrasts between dark tones of Granite, Slate and Soil with pops of Bright Pinks and Purples; prominent colors of warm and cool shades of Green and Berry with brushed Coppers are combined in beautiful silhouettes.”

After The Oscars | Fashion Feats And Fashion Flops

The stars hit the red carpet on Sunday with uber class, and a little sass. Or maybe, uber sass and a little class. Either way, with bling shining, hair flowing and faces glowing, the stars flaunted their best (and worst) ensembles for the commoners (aka you and me) to oogle over. And yes, we’re judging them. So while you’re crammed in coach, cruisin’ in your sub-compact import, or chillin’ in your postage stamp-sized apartment, take comfort knowing that we can openly turn our noses up at celeb fashion flops.

We’re head over heels for this glittery number! We all know glitter is where it’s at right now, so jump on the bandwagon and shine it up! We’d pair this enviable ensemble with these hot heels.

Golly, we love Emma Stone – what’s not to adore? We just can’t help but wonder which mirror told her this would be it – this would be the dress she takes to the Academy Awards. She’s yelling at us through her wardrobe. Whispers, Emma. It’s whispers that get the most attention. Anyway, if the dress doesn’t do it for you, these shoes certainly will! We’d pair this fuchsia number with these classy pumps.

A picture is worth a thousand words, and this one has a lot to say. But we have questions for you, photograph. 1) Is Anna Faris drunk, or does she have a peg leg and we just didn’t know it? 2) Why did she dip herself in latex before she went to the Oscars? Rhetorical questions, of course, we love this funny front woman when she’s at her best. This just isn’t one of those times.

Oscar-Worthy Styles | Flashy, Or Less Is More?

Hello again, Oscar! The Academy Awards are this Sunday, February 26,  and we know we’ll see a lot of new styles, new twists on old styles, and everything in between.  We can’t wait to see what some of our fave stars and starlets stir up!

While Hollywood is busy prepping, primping, and perming (well, maybe not that), we took some time to pick out a few Oscar-worthy styles that are prime head-turning, envy inspiring footwear fashions.

Trend Tuesdays: Military Chic

Military Chic style has been seen on the runways since 2008. I would consider this trend even stronger than ever. We have seen military influence in jackets, cargo pants, gloves, hats, and of course boots! Military-inspired boots are a great investment for the season.

The style in itself is a bit masculine so I would suggest adding a feminine touch to the outfit such as a floral print blouse or skirt. Definitely try pairing your military style boots with a pretty dress. The perfect way to give this trend a modern touch.

‘American Woman’ exhibit at the Met

And lest we forget what the 2010 Met Gala was all about, there’s a new exhibit up at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Here’s what the Met has to say about the exhibit, from its website:

American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity is the first Costume Institute exhibition drawn from the newly established Brooklyn Museum Costume Collection at the Met. It will explore developing perceptions of the modern American woman from 1890 to 1940 and how they have affected the way American women are seen today. Focusing on archetypes of American femininity through dress, the exhibition will reveal how the American woman initiated style revolutions that mirrored her social, political, and sexual emancipation. “Gibson Girls,” “Bohemians,” and “Screen Sirens,” among others, helped lay the foundation for today’s American woman.”
