Weird Shoe Wednesdays: Brass Knuckle Heels

Wow. There are a lot of brass knuckle heels. I mean if you really want to wear brass knuckles on your footwear, there are no shortage of options available to you. It kinda boggles my mind how many different shapes that brass knuckle pumps come in. I’ve already seen a pair of brass knuckles booties in the past. Little did I know there were brass knuckle mary jane pumps, brass knuckle platform sandals, brass knuckle high-heel slides, and more. Oh heavens …

Vlado Spectro Shoes at Shoe Metro

Much to my delight, we recently received even more Vlado Spectro shoes in new colorways and designs. The Vlado Spectro shoes are the official shoes of the jerking dance movement that’s become popular in the last couple years. You might see these shoes on celebrities such as Justin Bieber and Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas. Along with the shoes, Vlado was nice enough to send us posters showcasing different jerk dancing crews around the nation.

Click here to check out all of our Vlado Spectro shoes. These shoes fly off our shelves so get them while you still can. We have a variety of colors available to color coordinate with different outfits including the Wiz Khalifa-inspired Black and Yellow Spectro shoes. We also have the new Spectro 4 model, which is a mid-top take on the signature Spectro 3 shoes. You can click on the pics below to see just a small sample of what we have.

Weird Shoe Wednesdays: Nicholas Kirkwood x Keith Haring Shoes

I’m kinda speechless at this point. These shoes … what can you really say about them? They are mind-blowingly crazy. They are made for cartoons, looking more like various oddball Acme contraptions that Wile E. Coyote might purchase to unsuccessfully snag Road Runner. Seriously … rollerskate boots? WHY?!?!!

And this is just the tip of the iceberg. You can see more craziness at Func-Shoe-Nality.

Be on the lookout for our new Donald J. Pliner sandals, which just came into our offices yesterday. Included in our assortment are two styles of sandals featuring peace symbols on the bottom of the outsole. When you see these peace symbols on any Donald J. Pliner shoes or accessories, that means that your purchase will donate $2.50 towards the Peace for the Children Foundation.

The Peace for the Children Foundation, headed by Donald and Lisa Pliner, focuses on creating and maintaining parks and playgrounds in urban areas to promote physical and mental health of children. Our head buyer, Danielle, is holding the Donald J. Pliner Ciss sandals above but the Donald J. Pliner Gustaf sandals also feature a peace symbol outsole design. We’ll let you know when they’re available at our store!

Weird Shoe Wednesdays: Do-It-Yourself Moon Shoes

Do you remember those fun arts & crafts activities when you’d punch out a bunch of thin wood pieces from a sheet of wood? There were instructions telling you which piece slid into which slots and at the end you’d have like a race car or a butterfly or a ship or something? So imagine that concept … but using it to build shoes.

That’s the concept behind United Nude’s platform sandals below. You can see all the pieces spread out in the first photo and then how they combine into a platform sandal in the second photo.

Designed for the “Moon Life” project, the idea is to create shoes that could be worn in outer space, if life in space is indeed in our future. I’m not sure how they’d know but apparently these shoes are suited for the temperature and pressure of space. They can obviously be packed easily when broken down. Most of the shoe parts are made from carbon fiber but the upper pieces are leather. Each shoe can be assembled in about 10 minutes.

These sandals aren’t available yet but they will eventually be released in very limited quantities through the Moon Life project site and through United Nude’s site. Via Design Milk.

Weird Shoe Wednesday: Mother & Daughter Shoes from Kobi Levi

My apologies for being absent last week. We’re going through lots of exciting changes at Shoe Metro and I guess Weird Shoe Wednesdays just got lost in the shuffle.

These are what I was planning to post up last week when it would’ve been on-time for Mother’s Day. Kobi Levi is at it yet again with his Mother & Daughter pumps. They’re mary jane pumps where the heel is actually just a smaller version of the upper, bringing to life the mother-daughter concept.

While I get the concept, I wonder if Levi was trying to make some sort of statement about parenting by having the heel, which supports the upper, represent the daughter. Do parents need children more than the children need parents? Anyway, Happy Belated Mothers Day!

Skechers Shape Ups Shoes for Men at Shoe Metro

We just got these new Skechers Shape Ups shoes recently, which made one of our best employees, Kevin, very happy. Skechers Shape Ups are the really popular toning shoes that helps tone your muscles as you go about your daily errands and such. You’ve probably already seen someone wearing them on the street or at the supermarket.

Kevin with his new pair of Skechers Shape Ups

Skechers Shape Ups shoes feature a dynamic rolling bottom that basically throws you off balance a little bit. What happens is that your muscles have to work a little harder to maintain your balance with each step, resulting in potentially firmer leg, glutes, back, and ab muscles. This naturally leads to other benefits such as burning more calories, improving your posture, and decreasing the impact on your joints. Not to mention the convenience of getting a workout without having to hit the gym.

You can click these links to check out our Skechers Shape Ups Regimen shoes and our Skechers Shape Ups Glide shoes. Or just click on the pics below. Have a good workout!

Weird Shoe Wednesdays: More Horse Hoof Heels

You might remember when we featured the taxidermist-inspired work of German designer Iris Schieferstein months ago. Well, it looks like someone at the Cheltenham race track had the same idea. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Cheltenham Festival, one of the most prestigious events in horse racing, an online betting exchange named Betfair commissioned designers to create these hooves. The hooves are made from carbon fiber and up to 5000 real horse hairs. And they bear an uncanny resemblance to Schieferstein’s work.

A limited run of these shoes were sold for £1,300 per pair, the proceeds from which were donated to the Prostrate Cancer Charity. Hit the jump to see models trying to look sexy in horse hooves. Via Daily Mail. Continue Reading…
