Trend Tuesdays: Military Chic

Military Chic style has been seen on the runways since 2008. I would consider this trend even stronger than ever. We have seen military influence in jackets, cargo pants, gloves, hats, and of course boots! Military-inspired boots are a great investment for the season.

The style in itself is a bit masculine so I would suggest adding a feminine touch to the outfit such as a floral print blouse or skirt. Definitely try pairing your military style boots with a pretty dress. The perfect way to give this trend a modern touch.

Celebrity Sightings: Keds

When I think of Keds the first thing that comes to mind is tennis shoes, but that is no longer so!

Over the past couple years Keds has partnered with designers to create limited edition collections. The first one I can remember being really excited about was the Nanette Lepore for Keds collection.

After that I was in love with the Alice + Olivia collection for Keds, super cute sequin covered champions!

If you want to be even more exclusive you can create your own personalized Keds at the Keds Studio or on Zazzle – a DIY website where you can completely customize your own pair of Keds.

Keds have been coming out with some really cute updates in fabrication and colors to their classic Champion styles. And even their original classic styles have been spotted on all sorts of celebrities. Check out these celebs that were spotted wearing Keds around town.

Weird Shoe Wednesdays: Glittery Thigh-High Boots … For Men

Both glittery shoes and thigh-high boots are trendy this Fall/Winter season for women. But men are way ahead of the curve in both departments. Back in 2009, Givenchy unveiled its new line of Fall/Winter 2009 Men’s Fashions. Among many other daring looks, these glittery thigh-high boots were included.

What do you think? What would you say to a man if you saw him walking down the street in these sparkling thigh-highs?

Trend of the moment…. Glitter!

Hi! I’m Danielle, the buyer at Shoe Metro.

I have a deep love for fashion, interior design, and anything creative. When asked, I jumped at the opportunity to blog about fashion because it will give me a way to document all of my current fashion obsessions, inspirations, and ideas.

Fall’s latest footwear features glitz and glamour ranging from pumps covered in sequins to glitter saturated sandals. Perfect timing with the holidays right around the corner. Although the glitter trend seems to be more evening appropriate it can be dressed down as well.

Here are a couple of my favorites…

Congrats to Cain Velasquez

We’re sending our congratulations to UFC fighter, Cain Velasquez. Velasquez just beat Brock Lesnar on Saturday, becoming the new UFC Heavyweight Champion. Velasquez is sponsored by Lugz, which makes rugged, durable streetwear like the popular Lugz Matrix boots. Congrats on a great fight!

Weird Shoe Wednesdays: Cats, Slingshots, Gum, and Shoes

Designer Kobi Levi has designed a variety of novelty shoes with quirky ideas. I don’t know if these are actual shoes or just concept designs–I’d think they were just concepts if the Chewing Gum shoes below weren’t actually being worn on a foot–but nonetheless, they’re pretty clever. These were my three favorites that I culled but you can see more at Kobi Levi’s blog (fair warning: two of the designs–’XXX’ and ‘Blow’–are definitely NSFW).

Weird Shoe Wednesday: Shoe Hats

This Friday is Hat Day at Shoe Metro. In preparation and inspiration for that fateful day, I present to you …… Shoe Hats! An assortment of hats fashioned after or actually made from shoes. Because shoes, especially high heels, are too beautiful to be all the way down at your feet. You have to raise them up high in the sky!

And who says that men can’t wear shoes are their heads too?

Shoe Metro Paintball Day

Some of us at Shoe Metro went out for paintballing yesterday morning at The Paintball Park on the Miramar military base. For many of us, it was our first time. And we had lots of fun. Between sliding around in the dirt, ducking behind bales of hay, and of course, spraying beloved coworkers with yellow paint, it was one of our most enjoyable outings yet. Check out a few pics below and when you’re done, go to our Facebook page for more! =)
