Weird Shoe Wednesdays: Chainmail Booties from United Nude

Ugly Shoes seemed to hate these booties but I think they actually look good. These shoes are a collaboration between United Nude and designer Iris van Herpen. Not sure if they were inspired by chainmail in the least. But they certainly look strong enough to stop a broadsword hit.

What We’re Wearing: Chinese Laundry Magic Garden Sandals

Summer’s winding down but we here at Shoe Metro are very fortunate to be living in San Diego where the sun takes ITS vacation. Our Lead Buyer, Danielle, wanted to share these Chinese Laundry sandals with you. According to Danielle: “I like them because they’re a combination of two really cute sandals. They take the flower from the Chanel Camellia Jelly and put it on the printed footbed of the Valentino Bow Jelly. Plus they’re not $300 or $275 like the Chanels and Valentinos.”

They’re called the Magic Garden 2 sandals and we have them in Blush and in Black. Click the links there or click on the photos below to check them out!

Weird Shoe Wednesdays: Nike High Heel Dunks

Sometimes, the universe collapses on itself and churns out all sorts of chaos. Here it is: Nike High Heel Dunks. They are not officially sanctioned by Nike. But they are real, or at least, real enough to be sold on Addoway by some brave shoe designers.

What do you think? Would you wear high-heeled Nikes?

Weird Shoe Wednesdays: Coffee Heels from Kobi Levi

Wednesdays are hump days. And after having maybe a little bit too much fun on Taco Tuesday, there’s no doubt you’re needing coffee throughout the day today. Kobi Levi strikes again with high-heeled mules fashioned after coffee in coffee pots. You can see the majority of the shoe mimics the coffee pot while the heel is the coffee pouring out of the pot. Pretty neat stuff. The black “Diner” version offers your more run-of-the-mill, everyday coffee pot. Of course, if you want to keep it real classy, there’s the white “Porcelain” version too.

Coming Soon: Caterpillar Aubrey Wedges

Coming soon to a Shoe Metro near you, we have the Aubrey wedges from Caterpillar. Yes, those are fashionable women’s shoes from Caterpillar, the world-famous work boot giant. Caterpillar has been experimenting with shoes outside of the realm of work footwear. This is the first time we’ve had them and we like them. The upper is leather with suede trim. There’s this fun, kinda exotic floral print inside the lining. You can see the outsole still retains this lugged look to remind you of its rugged Caterpillar roots. And it’s comfortable with the cork wedge heel. These are very casual shoes so they work best with jeans (which Jessica clearly wasn’t ready for below, hah).

They’ll be available soon enough at our store. We’ll keep you posted when you can purchase them.

Weird Shoe Wednesdays: Swirly Shoes from Sergio Rossi

If you at some point happen to stumble upon a multi-million dollar lottery ticket, you might be able to afford these shoes. The pumps and booties from Sergio Rossi definitely run a pretty penny: the blue pumps are $1029, the pink pumps are $900, and the booties are $1600. But they’re also very stylish with this whole Shakespearean, Midsummer Night’s Dream thing going on as if made for fashionista elves. Very cool.

What We’re Wearing: K-Swiss Tubes Running Shoes

We thought it’d be a fun idea to give you all a peek into what Shoe Metro employees are wearing themselves. You find out what shoes we’re wearing and why we chose those particular shoes. You can take these are our own personal recommendations in footwear.

First up, we have Marcus, one of the top employees in our Listing Dept., who just got a pair of K-Swiss Tubes running shoes. Marcus says: “I like the Tubes technology. They make the shoes real flexible and they’re lightweight too. They feel real good.”

Weird Shoe Wednesdays: Ze O Ze Adjustable Heel Shoes

These shoes, named Ze O Ze which is Hebrew for “This or This,” were created by Israeli designer Daniela Bekerman. These shoes feature removable heels and heel cups to offer completely versatile style. As you can see from the photos below, they can be instantly morphed from flats to ankle-strap pumps, high-heeled oxfords, and more.

These shoes are creative to be sure. They actually remind me of at least a few shoes that have come through our offices, though our shoes of course don’t transform as drastically. The Nine West Ontoo boots has a fully removable shaft. You can unzip the shaft, turning these boots from knee-high boots to ankle boots (sorry, we only have one pair left!).

Similarly, you can unzip the cuff of the Creative Recreation Solano shoes to convert from a high-top to a low-top style. We have the Solano shoes in many colors, the most popular colors being: Gunmetal/Burgundy, Forest, and Black.
