Since Thanksgiving arrives this Thursday, I thought we might take the time to pay some respect to Native American communities, who have sacrificed so much in the history surrounding Thanksgiving. I guess Nike had similar plans.
About a week ago, Nike debuted a new line of shoes called the Nike N7 Collection. The N7 Collection is designed to meet the unique needs of Native American feet and to be as environmentally safe as possible. A portion of the funds from sales of the N7 Collection will go into the N7 Fund, which supports youth sports in Native American communities.
The N7 Collection is the product of some years of research in Native American communities. Nike visited 70 different tribes around the country, surveying the feet of 200 Native Americans. With the research, Nike determined that the average Native American’s toe size is much larger than other Americans’. The N7 shoes are designed to adjust to that unique trait. The N7 shoes are also very eco-friendly, using highly recyclable, Environmentally Preferred Materials (EPMs).
There are three different shoes: the N7 Air Pegasus+ 26 (above), the N7 Huarache, and the N7 SMS RT for kids. You can read about the different specs on each shoe from the original article.
